Why coaching?
Good plans still have to work in real life.
A physician can identify health risks, diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, and recommend changes. But knowing what would help doesn't automatically make change easy.
Work schedules, family responsibilities, habits, environment, setbacks, and competing priorities can all affect progress. ZenCare Coaching provides structured support to turn appropriate recommendations and personal goals into realistic actions.
Small, sustainable changes can become meaningful progress.
What coaching can support
Build around the goals that matter to you.
Nutrition habits
Make healthier choices work in everyday life.
Meal planning, food choices, eating routines, portion awareness, preparation around work or travel, and sustainable patterns.
Coaching does not provide medical nutrition therapy or prescribe therapeutic diets. When needed, an appropriately qualified dietitian may be recommended.
Movement & activity
Build movement into the life you actually live.
Plan appropriate activity into the week, build consistency, work through barriers, and gradually develop sustainable routines.
Coaching does not replace physical therapy, rehabilitation, exercise evaluation, or medical clearance when needed.
Sleep routines
Better routines can support better rest.
Work on sleep schedules, bedtime routines, consistency, environmental factors, and daily habits that influence sleep.
Coaching does not diagnose or treat sleep disorders. Persistent insomnia, suspected sleep apnea, or significant sleepiness may need clinical evaluation.
Weight & metabolic health
Support beyond the physician visit.
Work on nutrition routines, movement, sleep, goal setting, self-monitoring, accountability, and everyday barriers alongside appropriate physician-led care.

Turn recommendations into practical habits.
Clarify goals, plan next steps, track progress, prepare for setbacks, and bring useful questions and observations to clinical visits.
Stress & well-being routines
Make room for supportive everyday habits.
Work on non-clinical goals such as daily routines, work-life boundaries, rest, goal prioritization, and healthy coping routines.
Coaching does not treat psychiatric conditions.

Your goals. A practical plan. Ongoing support.

Adjust

Between sessions
Accountability without pretending to provide 24/7 care.
Active ZenCare Coaching clients may use brief, non-urgent check-ins about established goals: progress updates, an agreed action step, or a barrier to discuss at the next session.
This is not unlimited messaging or a channel for new symptoms, medication questions, psychiatric concerns, urgent needs, or emergencies. Clinical concerns should go to an appropriate clinician or care setting.
Coaching + clinical care
Different roles. Better support.
Your physician
- Evaluates symptoms and diagnoses conditions
- Orders and interprets tests
- Prescribes and adjusts medication
- Establishes treatment plans and gives medical advice
- Recommends specialists or higher-level care when needed
Your Health & Wellness Coach
- Clarifies appropriate goals
- Turns recommendations into practical routines
- Identifies everyday barriers
- Supports accountability and agreed-upon progress
- Helps prepare questions for the clinical team
Coaching supports the plan. It does not replace medical care.
Coaching is not psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment, medical nutrition therapy, or physical rehabilitation. When another level of care is needed, an appropriate professional may be recommended.

The right support for the right part of the plan.
Dr. Kay
Medical evaluation, metabolic risk, laboratory findings, treatment, and medication when appropriate.
Dr. Dee

Health & Wellness Coach
Goals, routines, barriers, accountability, and sustainable behavior change.
The physician manages the clinical plan. The coach helps make appropriate goals work in everyday life.
Not every coaching client needs care from either or both ZenCare physicians.

From treatment plan to daily routine.
Weight and metabolic care often involves decisions made far outside a physician visit. A physician may evaluate medical conditions, metabolic risk, lab findings, medication, and treatment response. A coach can support meal and movement routines, sleep habits, self-monitoring, accountability, and working through setbacks.
Medical care determines appropriate treatment. Coaching supports sustainable action.

Format & frequency
Support that fits your goals.
Coaching is telehealth-forward. In-person coaching is not currently promised. A starting rhythm of two sessions per month may be helpful for some people; others may choose monthly sessions or as-needed maintenance. Your cadence should reflect your goals and needs, not a required schedule.
Coaching FAQ
Common questions.
Is Health & Wellness Coaching medical care?+
No. Coaching supports goals, routines, accountability, and behavior change. Diagnosis, treatment, laboratory interpretation, and prescribing remain the responsibility of appropriately licensed clinicians.
Is coaching therapy?+
No. Coaching is not psychotherapy and does not diagnose or treat psychiatric disorders. Patients needing mental-health evaluation or treatment should receive appropriate clinical care.
Do I have to be a ZenCare member?+
No. ZenCare Coaching is a separate service, and individual sessions are available without medical membership.
Do I need to see a ZenCare physician first?+
Not necessarily for general wellness coaching. Goals involving medical conditions, new symptoms, medications, or significant weight-management treatment may require physician evaluation.
Can coaching help with weight management?+
Yes. Coaching may support nutrition, movement, sleep, goals, self-monitoring, and accountability alongside an appropriate treatment plan. It does not prescribe medication or replace medical evaluation.
Can my coach tell me what medication to take?+
No. Medication decisions must be made by an appropriately licensed prescribing clinician.
What happens if a medical concern comes up during coaching?+
Your coach should direct you toward appropriate clinical evaluation rather than diagnose or treat the concern. Depending on the concern, that may mean Dr. Kay, Dr. Dee, or another healthcare professional.
What happens if a mental-health concern comes up?+
A coach does not provide psychiatric diagnosis or treatment. When appropriate, you may be directed to Dr. Dee or another qualified professional. Urgent or emergency concerns require crisis or emergency services.
Can I purchase just one coaching session?+
Yes. After an initial session, you can continue with individual 30-minute follow-ups or choose ongoing ZenCare Coaching.
Do unused monthly coaching sessions roll over?+
No. Unused sessions generally do not roll over to future months; any exception would follow ZenCare's written coaching policy.
