Frequently asked

Questions patients ask us first.

Saturday access, private pay, superbills, MedPsych, memberships and telehealth — answered plainly.

Why is ZenCare open only on Saturdays?+

ZenCare is currently a Saturday practice by design. Most people cannot see a physician during a workday without rearranging their week. Saturday appointments let you receive unhurried, physician-led care without missing work, school or family obligations.

Does ZenCare accept insurance?+

ZenCare is a private-pay practice and does not bill commercial health insurance for visits. You know the cost of your appointment before you receive care.

Can I use my insurance?+

Visits are paid directly at the time of service. You may request a superbill for eligible services to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your individual plan.

What is private-pay medicine?+

Private-pay (cash-pay) medicine means you pay the practice directly for your visit. Pricing is transparent, there are no surprise visit bills, and routine visits do not require insurance authorization.

Can I receive a superbill?+

Yes. Patients may request a superbill for eligible services to submit to their insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed.

What is MedPsych?+

MedPsych is ZenCare's integrated visit type for patients whose physical and mental health concerns overlap — for example fatigue with depression, insomnia with anxiety, or metabolic health alongside psychiatric medication. Your ZenCare physicians consider both in the same conversation.

Do I need both medical and psychiatric care?+

No. Many patients see ZenCare for internal medicine only, or psychiatry only. MedPsych is available when your concerns overlap and integrated care would be helpful.

Do you prescribe medications?+

Medications may be prescribed when clinically appropriate after evaluation. Prescribing decisions are individualized and are never guaranteed in advance of a visit.

Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications?+

GLP-1 medications may be considered as part of a comprehensive weight and metabolic evaluation when clinically appropriate. They are not appropriate for everyone, and no medication or outcome is guaranteed.

Do you treat ADHD?+

Adult ADHD evaluation and treatment are offered. Treatment plans are individualized and may include non-medication strategies, medication, or referral when appropriate.

Do you provide controlled medications?+

Controlled medications are prescribed only when clinically appropriate, after evaluation, and in accordance with Texas and federal regulations and practice policy. Requests for specific controlled substances cannot be guaranteed.

What is included in membership?+

Each membership lists its included benefits on the Membership page. Benefits, eligibility, and exclusions are governed by the membership agreement.

Is membership health insurance?+

No. ZenCare membership is not health insurance and does not replace comprehensive health insurance.

Can I cancel my membership?+

Yes. Memberships may be cancelled according to the terms described in the membership agreement and cancellation policy.

Do you offer telehealth?+

Yes. Many visit types are available by secure telehealth as well as in person, based on clinical appropriateness.

Who can receive telehealth services?+

Telehealth is available to patients physically located in Texas at the time of the visit, when the visit type is clinically appropriate for a virtual encounter.

What happens if I have an emergency?+

ZenCare is not an emergency service. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For a mental health or suicide crisis, call or text 988. Website messages are not monitored continuously.

Are laboratory tests included?+

No. Laboratory testing, imaging, medications and other outside services are not included in visit prices or membership unless specifically stated.
